This week’s big adventure was a aerial photography trip with Fritz in his Cessna that took us through southern Oregon, northwest California (to Sacramento) and then back up to Crescent City, then up along the Oregon coast. Some notable sights: Crater Lake, our former house in Yreka (better water that front lawn!), Mt. Shasta, nearly bereft of snow, the still smoldering mountains above Trinity Lake—all the way to the coast, and the spectacular coastline of Oregon all the way to Florence.

Our overnight stop was Sacramento Executive Airport, a mere 3-4 miles from our home, so we rented a car and drove over to 1039 Eileen Way. We picked up a Burger King double-burger along the way and, once there, tried to watch TV, but I had initially forgotten the proper sequence of buttons, etc., to turn on the sound. Finally hit the right button by sheer luck. Also included was a visit to Liz’ across the street, who treated us to a glass of wine (it was just one glass, right Liz?) as I caught up on the local news. Sacramento was sweltering at 100+, and I had been in the usually mild climes of Oregon too long.
Waking early in the morning, I cut the back lawn, which was ready for hay-baling. Next stop was a visit to barber Ray, who had a 7:30 opening, thus averting another road-job haircut. Then I headed to West Sacramento for a quick visit with new grandson, Jonas, who had grown a bit in the last (nearly) 2 months. Grandma Janice was quite envious of this stop along the way.
Fritz and I were in the air again by 10:30, and after shooting a few locations in the Sacto area, headed north. We arrived home at 10:30. Janice had just left for a presentation in Portland.
We are now at the Mt. Hood RV Park as Janice fulfills commitments in the area. Limited internet access through Tengo Wi-Fi, confirming our purchase of the satellite internet system (currently blocked by trees). (I actually had to plug the computer into the car and drive over near the office where there was a decent signal in order to upload this). Though there is golf nearby (three 9 hole courses), I have opted to avoid the Labor Day golfers. Maybe next week.
